Postion: Software Support/Pre-sales Engineer consultant

Location: Aculab Plc, Milton Keynes, UK
Description: An exciting opportunity exists for a technically enthusiastic, software engineer to provide post and pre-sales support to the customers of Aculab's market leading communication products. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with customers, building converged network communications applications and who can work in a dual post and pre-sales role
Technical support activity will include:
- Log and review incoming technical support inquiries from customers and partners
- Duplicate, research, resolve and test potential defects; research and answer technical product questions
- Advise customers on writing software using Aculab's 'C' libraries
- Maintenance/implementation of software test tools written in 'C'
- Develop and execute test plans to conduct compatibility tests with other software programs, hardware and multiple operating systems
- Demonstrate creative problem solving skills; anticipate error conditions and likely failure scenarios
- Escalate issues to engineering, as needed
- Set customer expectations; provide regular updates to customers
- Provide on-site training and customer support when necessary and undertake international travel as required
The candidate: A degree in a related technical discipline plus a minimum of two years industrial experience would be advantageous. The candidate must have a good knowledge of programming in C and C++ (knowledge of Python would be a bonus). Experience of computer telephony, SIP, ISDN, SS7 would be of an advantage. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, team worker with a creative and imaginative approach to solving problems. Must be eligible to travel to USA at a short notice.
