Military commanders must always feel secure with their communications systems… Do You?

Aculab is actively involved in military applications as a supplier or sub-contractor of communications enabling technologies to leading systems suppliers operating in the defence sector.
The experience gained means that Aculab has become a centre of excellence, called upon by many agencies delivering secure communications solutions for deployment in tactical and infrastructure networks.

Interoperability
Aculab’s advanced communications technologies provide essential interoperability and highly effective, redundant, reliable and scalable components that enable our partners to deliver secure applications for joint land, sea and air operations. Interoperability is achieved through signalling protocol coverage and Aculab has an excellent pedigree in this regard, offering the industry’s largest portfolio of worldwide protocols.

Enhanced voice processing
Enhanced voice processing is a feature of many applications deployed using Aculab’s enabling technology in this sector. Defence contractors and their partner companies confidently turn to Aculab for cost-effective, component-off-the-shelf (COTS) media processing platforms providing interactive voice response (IVR), fax, conferencing and transcoding functionality.

Bespoke engineering development
A responsive commitment to bespoke engineering development has set Aculab apart as the supplier of choice for specialist, DSP-based media processing and signalling protocol support. Whether for the implementation of protocol specific changes to meet NATO (STANAG) or Tactical ISDN specifications or the development of APIs to support MIL-STD Vocoders such as MELPe, Aculab has what it takes to deliver, on time and in full.

Visible success
Aculab has many successes in the defence sector, beginning with its involvement in Project CORMORANT for the then Nortel subsidiary, Cogent Defence Systems. Since then it has been involved in many projects, delivering essential technology for enhanced voice processor units, which provide secure gateway functionality between various tactical and strategic network elements deployed in rapid reaction theatres such as Kosovo and Afghanistan.

Signalling protocols
The wide range of protocol support available from Aculab includes various signalling implementations that have been successfully deployed in battlefield communications equipment. Numerous CAS and ISDN signalling types are offered as are many national and international variants of SS7. Moreover, as TDM-to-IP gateway capability is now a key military requirement, Aculab offers proven H.323 and SIP stacks.

Partnerships
At Aculab, we work in partnership with our customers and seek to build long term, mutually successful relationships. Our aim is to understand and meet our partners’ needs and to optimise value for money. Our offerings feature a judicious mix of bespoke developments and cost-effective COTS technologies for military applications.
