Date: 10 December 2009
Aculab, a leading provider of enabling technologies for the communications market today announced that microDATA, the industry's leading provider of innovative Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1), has selected Aculab’s GroomerII signalling and media gateway to provide critical integration between IP and SS7 networks. This seamless integration is a fundamental requirement for emergency services organisations that are looking to deploy IP-based technology as a means to improve response times, increase efficiency, and reduce operating costs.
“We are very pleased to assist microDATA in its continuing efforts to enhance emergency services operations by incorporating IP and next generation communications technologies,” said Chris Gravett, Aculab’s Sales and Marketing Director. “microDATA faces the challenge of integrating existing land line and cellular network callers with VoIP callers, while providing the PSAP with accurate location and subscriber information necessary for emergency response. The field proven SS7 signalling and media transport capabilities of GroomerII provide the reliable and redundant connections to land line and cellular networks that emergency services providers demand.”
Particularly well-suited to innovative developers, like microDATA, who service customers with critical life saving communication solutions and demand the best the industry has to offer for bridging legacy 9-1-1 to NG9-1-1, Aculab’s GroomerII is a powerful tool to manage gateway and signalling functions. GroomerII’s built-in SS7-to-SIP interconnection and routing, support for multiple trunk types, and a full-featured call manager, enable interoperability across a converging network transport landscape without the need for external softswitches, signalling gateways or media gateway controllers.
microDATA designs and develops proven 9-1-1 software solutions that enable public safety agencies to route calls, share critical life saving information, and answer/respond to the public's call for help. With solutions that feature GIS and IP technologies at the core, microDATA provides the industry with state of the art Spatial Routing, Call Handling, CPE, and ALI/GIS DBMS.
“Aculab has been a true partner to microDATA in assuring that its GroomerII gateway meets the high demands of microDATA’s NG9-1-1 implementations. They are customer driven, which assures that its gateways will stand the test of time as these technologies evolve,” said Christine Heinrich, microDATA VP Business Development Group. “They continue to provide sound technology that makes good financial sense.”
