ApplianX IP Gateway

The ApplianX IP Gateway can be used in a variety of VoIP/TDM gateway scenarios and for TDM protocol conversions. It is a ‘plug & play’ gateway that, regardless of deployment, can help reduce operational costs, extend the life of legacy, TDM-based equipment, and enable the delivery of services from IP-based applications and end points.

ApplianX gateways are a vital component in any VoIP migration strategy. Uniquely, the ApplianX IP Gateway can support the inter-working of supplementary services between SIP, QSIG and DPNSS.

  • IP gateway – can bridge between various TDM and IP endpoints
  • Deployment-ready solution – comes with a comprehensive management suite, including an HTML web browser configuration tool and support for SNMP
  • Protect investment in legacy equipment – existing systems remain in service, while advantage is gained from new, IP-based services and endpoints
  • Extensive portfolio of worldwide protocols supported – PRI/ISDN types; T1 robbed-bit; E1 CAS; R1; R2; AT&T and NI2
  • Comprehensive support for PBX inter-working protocols – such as QSIG and DPNSS, allowing the conversion of supplementary services including: Divert, Route Optimisation, Message Waiting Indicator, Call Back (When Free, When Next Available) and Transfer to SIP
  • Comprehensive call routing engine – with SIP load balancing and fault tolerance
  • DTMF clamping – eliminates tones in call recordings
  • TDM fallback – the gateway can fallback to TDM should the SIP network fail

“At Cambridge University Hospitals we’re making the transition from a legacy estate of iSDX switches deployed in a relatively complex network to a Unify OpenScape SIP platform to offer the scale-ability and features required by a large critical service. A migration like this can be a testing time for a network, with calls and features traversing technologies of different eras. This is where devices such as Aculab’s ApplianX play their part, being the Babel fish in the middle. The ApplianX can do various TDM to VoIP conversions and is easy to configure; with responsive support and develop teams it has been an invaluable tool in helping us bridge the decades.”
