Protocol combinations
For IP telephony and VoIP applications, Aculab offers both SIP and H.323 stacks, which are fully integrated with our call control APIs and DSP boards. Aculab's protocol coverage also extends to the broadest range of worldwide call control and TDM signalling protocols with appropriate regulatory approvals. The list includes many different national and international variants of SS7, CAS and ISDN (including Q.SIG and DPNSS), for operation over E1 and T1 trunks.
For more details on the unrivalled range of protocols available, including H.323, SIP and SS7, see the protocols and approvals page.
Inclusive functionality
Together with our DSP boards, Aculab's IP protocols are an excellent option for many TDM-to-IP gateway functions. Essentially, if you specify a TDM option, gateway and encoding/transcoding functionality comes for free. This is also true for our protocols and media processing software, for they are available under a cost free licence to use with Prosody X boards. You can download Aculab's media processing software and protocol firmwares at any time, via the software downloads page.
You can also download all of our consistently designed call/session control and media processing APIs, to read at your convenience, from technical documents.
Target applications
Aculab's Prosody X DSP boards were designed around an IP core, whilst retaining legacy TDM options; recognising they remain a necessity, despite the migration to fourth generation IP networks (NGN). This enables market aware developers, systems integrators and equipment manufacturers alike to readily create high-performance, convergence solutions using our media processing resource boards. For an indication of what businesses, just like yours, are able to achieve, take a look at our solutions pages.
The following are examples of the kind of applications or service delivery platforms that can be built:

Clear and present advantage
Aculab's DSP boards - part of its Prosody family of media processing platforms - offer reliable, deployment proven technology that provides feature rich, high density, converged media processing. Solutions providers and developers looking to integrate multimodal communications platforms, with voice, video* and data, will benefit from the 'future-ready' architecture of Aculab's media processing boards, which are already capable of handling multimedia call sessions.
Distributed architecture
Aculab's Prosody X media processing product line benefits from a distributed architecture and remote API, which means that boards can be installed in different chassis, controlled by local or remote application servers. This offers resilience and excellent scalability, giving the benefit of being able to provision hardware for hosted applications in an optimal, cost-effective way.
Additionally, with this distributed architecture, load balancing and automatic failover mechanisms can be implemented to make a solution fault tolerant; from the low level media processing layer up to the application part. Overall, a durable competitive advantage can be gained for a wide range of communications applications in enterprise or telco environments.
Fit for purpose
To ensure maximum deployment flexibility and 'fit for purpose' cost-effectiveness, a number of DSP board variants with different media processing capacities, Ethernet bandwidths, optional E1/T1 trunks and a choice of industry standard form factors is offered. With the software development kit (SDK) available under a cost free licence, unlimited free technical support and competitive pricing - outstanding value for money is guaranteed.
