New 8 trunk Prosody X PCIe board

A new, higher capacity PCIe board is now available. It supports 8 E1/T1 trunks and 4 DSPs, up to 600 voice channels (TDM traffic), and 680 G.711 play/record sessions for VoIP traffic. The new board will natively provide the ability for customers to build high capacity systems based on servers using the widely available PCIe technology.

The new board has been designed from the ground up to bring many improvements to the already successful Prosody X family. One such improvement is the increase in channel density capability - a sample of the headline performance figures is given below:

As the table shows, when using the Gigabit Ethernet interface, a large improvement in channel counts is possible. Full details of the channel counts for the new board and all other Prosody X variants can be found in the updated Prosody X datasheet.

Other improvements include:

  •      Reduced power consumption
  •      CAS/SS7 signalling included as standard
  •      No daughter boards thus leading to improved airflow and MTBF
  •      Activity LEDs for the trunk ports

The new 8-trunk PCIe board fits into the Prosody X family alongside the existing PCI and PCIe boards. Further versions of the 8-trunk board with 1 and 2 DSPs fitted are also available.
