Prosody X in a new, 1U form factor

Media processing in a form factor that renders form factor irrelevant

Prosody X is now available in a 1U, 19-inch chassis - a highly practical alternative to DSP boards. This new form factor addition to Aculab's award winning, DSP-based media processing platform provides, initially, 4 E1/T1 trunks and 2 DSPs. That means up to 300 channels of telephony media processing, for both TDM and VoIP traffic. A later model (currently in development) will support up to 16 E1/T1 trunks and offer up to 8 DSPs - a viable substitute for cPCI.

The 1U chassis renders form factor considerations a thing of the past as developers no longer need concern themselves with sourcing hard to find servers. It is common knowledge that telco servers with sufficient slots for PCI, PCI-X or PCI Express (PCIe) cards of a certain height or length are difficult to find. Trickier still, is productising such a platform with a configuration that can be consistently and cost-effectively maintained. Aculab's Prosody X 1U chassis is a straightforward 'plug & configure' addition to your equipment consignment list.

Distributed architecture

The Prosody X 1U chassis is controlled by a separate server using Aculab's remote APIs. The result is a distributed architecture that offers both resilience and scalability, with the added benefit of enabling more cost-effective provisioning of your application platform. Additionally, load balancing and automatic failover mechanisms can be implemented to render a solution fault tolerant; from the low-level media processing up to your application or service layer.
