Prosody S is a software package that allows solution providers to integrate VoIP with their application – from contact centres and IP PBXs to social networking and conferencing platforms. It performs a comprehensive mix of media processing resources such as IVR, fax and conferencing on any host CPU – be it in a PC, 1U server, blade server, embedded system or laptop.
Prosody S can free solution providers from the constraints of DSP resource hardware. It brings flexibility and cost efficiencies to those familiar with traditional enabling technology and the prospect of adding new voice features to online platforms, such as games and social networks.
The advantages Prosody S brings to solution providers:
Flexibility of deployment
Prosody S can run on any host CPU that is capable of running an operating system. This flexibility means solution providers can select the server that best suits their application, deployment environment, target market and price points.
Choice of channel density
Prosody S can scale up to 600 full duplex channels per system. This doesn’t preclude solution providers who only require a few channels. The great advantage of Prosody S is that it gives solution providers the flexibility to purchase a license for the exact channel count they need for a system – anything from 1 to 600.
Software implementation
Prosody S allows solution providers to base platforms on commodity rather than specialist hardware components. This brings a number of advantages – reduced stock holding for spares; in house expertise is no longer required for specialist hardware installation and configuration; wider availability of products from multiple vendors; benefit from rapid improvements in technology; and open standards.
Standards-based
Solution providers can rest assured that their platform will interoperate with a wide variety of VoIP products from gateways to IP endpoints. Aculab has taken great steps to ensure Prosody S complies with a number of industry standards including SIP, H.323, RTP, Secure RTP, symmetric RTP, MRCP, T.38 fax, a full range of codecs, and is compliant with IETF specifications.
Proven technology
Aculab’s Prosody portfolio includes DSP-based media processing, and Prosody S – host-based media processing. Although very different types of enabling technology, all variants share some essential qualities – API, media processing and call control functionality, as well as the same development team. Consequently an application developed using Aculab’s API can be easily ported to any of the products in the Prosody portfolio.
