Aculab based Compact PCI telco server fits the bill for New Telekom

Case studies
New Telekom, a successful local telephony service provider based in the Czech Republic, recognised that in order to remain a contender in today's competitive communications market, they needed to meet the demand for high quality services and be able to offer low cost calls to worldwide destinations. The opportunity existed to meet the challenge of providing a service that would continue to satisfy existing customers and attract new, revenue generating users.
Their goal was to procure a solution that would not only optimise operational costs and offer resellers and end-users new features and services, but also offer the lowest rates and several marketing options, such as recharging of prepaid calling cards through the Internet or via contact centre operations. This attractive package was designed to stabilise margins, attract new revenues and increase average revenue per user (ARPU).
They decided to search for a reliable and cost-effective service platform. New Telekom looked to CTI Software, an independent software vendor dedicated to the development and implementation of communications solutions. CTI Software delivered a platform that featured the powerful combination of cPCI servers, Aculab's E1/T1 cPCI digital network access cards supporting both SS7 and ISDN PRI signalling, and the DAVOS telco server and billing software.
New Telekom implemented the DAVOS telco server, including a set of real-time authorising, routing, and billing tools designed to offer them greater flexibility for delivering a wide range of services, including prepaid, postpaid and calling card services to their customers. Web-based customer and reseller interfaces were customised to enable fast and easy access to individual accounts and profiles. The web-based administration interface is one of the most important features of the DAVOS solution, because it allows the system to be remotely managed and monitored and dealers can readily create new customer accounts, for example.
The solution can readily scale as New Telekom's needs require - as the service expands and revenues increase. Aculab's cards are the key hardware building blocks of the DAVOS telco server, offering all of the essential features necessary for telco-grade products, including high availability, reliability and scalability. Furthermore, the cards support simultaneous connection to the variety of network protocols (SS7 ISUP, ISDN PRI, CAS) needed by New Telekom in order to interconnect to the various other carriers and networks. A single card, occupying one physical backplane slot, provides up to 496 speech channels, and can provide up to 128 user-defined 64kbits/s timeslots for high capacity SS7 signalling.
CTI Software chose to use Aculab cards in their DAVOS platform, because of the high density of the E1/T1 cPCI card with 16 trunks, along with its ability to simultaneously support SS7 ISUP and ISDN protocols on a single card. The flexibility of the Aculab cards meant the solution was overall easier to implement and CTI Software were able to deliver the desired result to their customer more quickly and with minimal development and set up costs.
Jaroslav Slegr, Managing Director at CTI Software said, "The reliability of Aculab products and their excellent technical support is second to none."
