System design

The Aculab Professional Services team believes in supporting you throughout the whole of your project development; decisions made during system specification, analysis and design can have fundamental implications for a project in terms of functionality, timescale, cost and viability.

Our consultants can offer well-founded advice and guidance from the very start of a project; on subjects such as scalability, redundancy, reslience, product choice, channel count needs, application model, modular decomposition and so forth.

We offer our advice in an objective and independent way; taking the approach that we are here to assist you in making the right choices at the right time. This approach is crucial in order to get to market as quickly as possible, without compromising your system's development, reliability or stability, whilst achieving the most with your Aculab products.

Porting

Aculab Professional Services has a growing track-record in helping our clients migrate from alternative vendors of telephony equipment. We have knowledge and experience in porting code from several alternative vendors.

We can offer advice and training to enable you to undertake the porting yourself; giving you the tools and methods you need to ensure a fast, smooth migration.

In addition to advising you on porting to Aculab, we also have the ability to implement the porting on your behalf; please see the section on bespoke development for further information.

Training and APIs

The Aculab Professional Services team want you to get the most out of your Aculab products, as quickly as possible. To assist in this we offer a range of training courses that cover every aspect of the Aculab product range; we can also provide ad-hoc guidance by telephone or email.

Training can be arranged at your premises (or location of your choice) or at our offices in the UK, USA or Germany.

We do not publish a list of our standard courses; we prefer, in the first instance, to discuss your training requirements, allowing us to determine the approach most suited to your technical needs and project timescales.

We are available to undertake development work on your behalf, we have a proven track-record in producing effective, efficient and robust software in short timescales.

All our Professional Services developments, once tested and accepted by the client, become the property and responsibility of the client, including source code and documentation.

Standalone systems

We have a long, successful, history helping clients reach the market in the fastest time by providing a completely standalone black-box that gives the client some specific, Aculab based, functionality.

We have developed standalone platforms to provide functionality for intelligent gateways, including TDM/TDM, IP/IP, TDM/IP.

We develop the standalone platforms to be easy to control and access; they are designed to run from configuration files and settings, without the need for day-to-day intervention or control.

We deliberately keep the interfaces to our standalone products simple; we do not provide complex user interfaces, database back-ends and so forth. Taking this approach minimises development time, support, maintenance and other aspects.

Sub-systems

We have an long standing history in helping clients to reach the market faster by providing sub-systems, built directly into the client's application, that isolates and encapsulates all aspects of controlling Aculab's products.

Sub-systems can be provided as source code integrated directly into the source tree, or by library (static, dll or .so) that is built in at link or run time.

When using such sub-systems the remainder of your application becomes free to concentrate on its higher level functions and features, such as user interface, business logic, revenue generation and so forth; your developers do not need to learn any Aculab APIs or methods for controlling and managing the Aculab equipment (other than installation and initial, GUI driven, configuration).

We develop the engines to be easy to control and access; via a well defined, simple to use API, suitable for a specific application.

Engines

We have an excellent track record in helping clients reach the market in the fastest time by introducing a standalone engine that seperates the client's business logic from the control of Aculab's products.

We have developed engines to provide functionality for call control, gateways, IVR and conferencing platforms.

When using such engines your application enjoys the same freedoms as those introduced by employing a seperate sub-system, described above.

We develop the engines to be easy to control and access; usually utilising platform and programming language independent connections such as TCP sockets.

Porting

In addition to providing advice and consultancy enabling you to migrate your applications, we are available to undertake the porting work on your behalf; we have a proven capability in taking existing vendor-specific source code and migrating it, in short time frames, to use Aculab technology; without disruption to the higher level functionality of the system.

We have knowledge and experience in porting code from several alternative vendors.

Aculab Professional Services consultants have years of experience in producing robust and long-lived systems.

We can utilise this experience to assist you in proving and evaluating your solutions through both the physical testing of your system and the hands-on reviewing of your design and source code.

Testing

Aculab Professional Services has access to all of Aculab's products, enabling us to run tests across different platforms and configurations. This can allow us to test and evaluate your application on set-ups that you may not be in a position to test yourselves.

For instance, you may have developed your application using a Prosody X PCI development board; we could help you by validating your application or product on all variants of our Prosody X range, including PCI, PCIe and cPCI.

In conjunction with our QA department we can also provide in-house testing on large scale card systems; allowing scaleability and loading tests to be carried out on your behalf.

Review

We can use our experience in developing and deploying Aculab-based systems to provide you with an independent review service.

Using our review service gives you additional confidence that you are using your Aculab products in the most efficient and reliable way for your particular application.

We are able to review any stage or aspect of your development, from system requirements and design, through to implementation and code review. Our review process is strictly objective and independent; we provide honest opinion and comment, based on the desire for you to succeed and to get the best out of your Aculab products.

Our design stage reviews have helped clients to choose the most appropriate architectures and development models. Our code reviews have helped clients identify efficiency and optimisation gains, whilst also locating and removing potential bugs that testing may not uncover.
