Job No. MF-2008 Software Engineer

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced software engineer to work across several areas at Aculab PLC.

Initially, the successful candidate will be reporting directly to the Director of Software Development, with roles moving between groups and functions as the needs arise.

The candidate:

·       Will have five years plus industrial experience.
·       Must have a passion for technology and an eagerness to learn as well as master new skills.
·       Design and programming skills are essential to this role.
·       Operational abilities to build and administer reliable, secure, multi-redundant systems.
·       Can bring their own experiences and skills to the teams within Aculab.
·       Excellent communication skills at a technical level and the ability to communicate with clients.
·       Dealing with internal and external customers and providing excellent service.

The engineer will have the following responsibilities:

·       Enhancing current products by adding new features and improving security.
·       Working with customers, debugging tools and the source code to get to the bottom and fix customer issues that reach the development teams.
·       Design imaginative test strategies for Aculab’s products, designing the necessary tools and harnesses to do so. This could be from TDM – IP Telephony gateways to APIs for Andriod and IOS phone application development.
·       QA product releases by following and enhancing existing test plans.
·       Advise and aid in product design.

The Technologies:

·       SS7, Sigtran, ISDN, CAS, RTP, VoIP, SIP
·       Windows and Linux from the Application level to Device Driver level
·       Languages C, C++, Python, .Net, Java, PHP
·       Device-level programming and Altera NIOS programming
·       Cassandra, SQL, MongoDB
·       AWS, vSphere, Hyper-V
·       Web development based on CherryPy, Flask and others
·       IOS and Android APIs
·       CPaaS – Cloud-based Telephony

Education required:

Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.

An exciting opportunity for a technically minded individual to join our technical support team.

Aculab, a UK based manufacturer of computer hardware and Cloud software for the telecommunications market, is looking for someone who enjoys working with customers building converged network communication.

Education required:

·       A degree in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline.

Required technical background:

·       Experience programming in one or more (advantage) of:
  • Python
  • Java
  • C#
  • Bash
·       Ability to troubleshoot basic computer hardware and software
·       A good knowledge of Linux system administration.

The following would be advantageous:                               

·       Technical Customer Support experience
·       Knowledge of SIP
·       Experience building secure web base
·       QA Testing Experience
·       Cloud Based Applications
·       Web Services/REST API’s.

Personal qualities required:

Technical Support activity will include:                               

·       Log and review incoming technical support inquiries from customers and partners via telephone and email; duplicate, research, resolve and test potential defects; answer technical product questions
·       Develop and execute test plans
·       Demonstrate creative problem-solving skills; anticipate error conditions and likely failure scenarios
·       Escalate issues to engineering as and when needed. Set customer expectations; provide regular updates
·       On-site customer support when necessary and undertake national and international travel as required
·       Help R&D teams with developing and testing new products
·       Help write QA test applications.

The candidate:                               

Ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, team worker with a creative and imaginative approach to solving problems. Occasional travel to the US.

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Technology and Business Assistant to work with the Marketing, Sales and Support departments at Aculab PLC.

For this role Aculab is looking to offer primarily remote roles nationwide.

Technology and Business Assistants at Aculab can expect a varied role - both supporting the company’s website and digital marketing initiatives, and working with engineering teams building converged cloud communications applications.

For candidates interested in computer programming, there is also the opportunity available to learn a programming language.

Candidates will be involved in the following:

·       Completing market and competitor research
·       Basic campaign management
·       Promotion of Aculab products to developers and technical managers via social media groups
·       Additional duties will include metadata creation and analysis of audio recordings.

Whilst undertaking this role successful candidates will also gain experience and familiarity with the ideation and production of digital marketing content, including social media.

Education required:

·       GCSE’s or equivalent at grades A*-B/9-6 in Maths and English.

The following are essential:

·       Strong communication and organisational skills
·       Ability to work independently
·       Good time keeping skills
·       Fantastic attitude/willingness to learn
·       Access to a computer and a reliable internet connection.

The following would be advantageous:                                

·       Experience with social media platforms including LinkedIn and Twitter for business use

·       Any previous experience with computer programming.

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Digital Analyst to work with the Engineering department at Aculab PLC.

Digital Analysts at Aculab can expect a varied role - analysing audio/video data and classifying the data for the creation of a database. Candidates will work closely with the AI team, contributing to the development of new technology. Alongside this, candidates may aid with publicising Aculab products to developers and technical managers on social media groups.

For candidates interested in computer programming, there is also the opportunity available to learn a programming language.

Candidates will be involved in the following:
