Subscription licensing FAQ
How do I obtain Aculab subscription licences?
Step 1 - contact your Account Manager to set up a subscription licensing contract for an agreed number of licences
Step 2 - Aculab create your subscription licensing account on the Aculab Licensing Portal
Step 3 - Aculab load licence credits to your subscription licensing account on the Aculab Licensing Portal
Step 4 - You create the required licences using the portal
Step 5 - Install licences on target server using Aculab tools (AIT, ACT, ALT), or (for VoiSentry licences only) by loading the licence directly into the VoiSentry user interface
What are the differences between Aculab’s perpetual and subscription-type licences?
Perpetual licences
1. Licences are perpetual, not for a defined time period
2. Licences installed on Bare Metal do not have timers; licences installed on a Virtual Machine require an annual refresh (via connection back to Aculab's licensing server)
3. Separate support contract needed
4. Customer does not have any entitlement to upgrades (new features)
Subscription licences
1. Licences will run for as long as a subscription is in place
2. Licences installed do not have timers and do not require renewal on Bare Metal or Virtual Machine
3. Subscription fee includes support for the licensed product
4. Customer can make use of all upgrades (new features) and updates (bug fixes) for the licensed product as long as the subscription contract is in place
