2017-04-12 New versions of ACT and Licence Manager to support new licensing scheme

April 12th 2017

Aculab is pleased to announce the release of updated telephony software components, for Windows and Linux distributions, following successful QA testing.

Windows

  • Licence admin for Windows 4.0.1.8
  • ACT, ACTLM, ACTIP for Windows 4.0.1.6
  • SharedfilesQt5 1.0.0
  • V6 base documentation 6.6.2

Linux

  • Licence admin for Linux 4.0.1.8
  • ACT, ACTLM, ACTIP for Linux 4.0.1.6
  • SharedfilesQt5 1.0.0
  • V6 base documentation 6.6.2

These software components have been issued as full release components of Aculab 6.6 software.

The ACT and Licence Manager v4.x components support the new Aculab licensing mechanism that removes the need to provide a Machine ID when creating keys, which makes key management much simpler for scenarios such as virtual machine installs where server parameters are more likely to change.

Rather than asking customers to enter a machine ID when requesting a licence key, the new licensing scheme uses a client-server model that will allow Aculab to:

  • Validate licences when they are installed on a system
  • Identify where licences have been installed
  • Allow us to track when licences are moved

The updated telephony software components, together with release notes, are now available for download via the Aculab installation tool (AIT) which is available on the software downloads page of Aculab’s website: http://www.aculab.com/downloads/
The downloads area also includes links to quick start guide for the new system and a process flowchart for licensing.

Users of the AIT do not need a password and user name to run the installation package and download Aculab software. However, Aculab strongly recommends that users employ a unique, company specific user name and password.
